About the Author
Carlo Ancelotti has won football's ultimate prize, the Champions League, a record five times - twice as a player and three times as a manager. Born in Reggiolo, Italy, he was a midfielder for AS Roma and AC Milan, and played for Italy at the 1990 World Cup. He has coached clubs including Parma, Juventus, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea (winning the 'Double' in 2010). He has won titles in every country in which he has managed. His players have included Andrea Pirlo, Rui Costa, Filippo Inzaghi, Andrey Shevchenko, John Terry, Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Learn from one of the best

This book offers valuable insight into a specific leadership style as exhibited by Ancelotti. Some are direct leaders who use a command style when managing people. Others use a quieter, more collaborative and subtle approach that sometimes go against the grain of what the romantic notion of a leader is as formed by pop culture.
Ancelotti is not over-bearing or dictatorial. He compels his players to do the right thing and leads by setting an example as someone who is calm under pressure, slow to anger, and keeps in mind the well-being of the person when navigating the obstacles within the high-pressure and complex world of modern day football management.
This book offers the reader insight into how Ancelotti's leadership style was used throughout his career and provides guidance as to how his techniques can be used at all levels of management.
Between the carrot and the stick approach, Ancelotti's style uses the carrot. Is that he best way? That's up for you to decide, but you will undoubtedly come away with a respect for his style once you read his anecdotes. Best of all, the book contains sections where his former players and colleagues tell you exactly what they think of his style.
It's a must read for every sports coach and manager in any field.

I always told my residents and fellows that most you need to learn for business and life you can learn by paying attention to European soccer, the players, the team interactions, the managers, the owners, different country "styles" etc
Carlo Ancelotti wrote a masterful book, clearly the best book on applied leadership I have read in a long time.

Amazing book, great examples.
Getting inside the mind of a wonderful football genius. Definitely a a must read, I strongly recommend to anybody who is into sports coaching or leadership in business.
